The Information Technology Unit of the Kokkola University Consortium offers graduate student education in IT, with a specialization option in Wireless Sensor Networks and Educational Technology. The education is strongly based on the high-quality research work undertaken in the University Consortium

Our aim is to offer the students more flexible ways of completing their studies; for example, by using different educational technologies. Practically all contact teaching is offered online in the form of real-time and on-demand videos.

You can choose to participate in each lecture the way that is the most suitable in your own particular life situation, learning style or preferences.

The aim of the development of CiNetCampus has been to improve group forming and interactivity as well as to make video users' administration easier. With the help of the system, students can follow the lectures both as direct transmissions as well as on-demand recordings. Distance students can communicate with the lecturer and among themselves with the help of chat. For face-to-face teaching, there is a so-called lecturer's view built in the system. It helps all those present in the face-to-face space to see both the students participating with the aid of video as well as the discussion held with the help of the application. To log in to the system, the Optima learning environment is used.

The development of CiNetCampus started towards the end of 2010 from the initiative of Ismo Hakala. Operation trials started at the beginning half of 2011. CiNetCampus was implemented by Tuomo Härmänmaa on the base of an open source project known as ClipBucket. New features are under constant development for the application. The brainstorming participants, in addition to Hakala and Härmänmaa, were Mikko Myllymäki and Jari Penttilä.
