Supporting self-directed learning in education

Distance learning and adult education challenge students to learn in different ways. Motivation is usually already in place. However, managing time and study materials, setting personal goals, and assessing performance against those goals can be more difficult than in face-to-face learning. Online material may seem fragmented, and studying without real-time interaction with the teacher and other students may feel passive. A high level of self-direction can help students tolerate the disadvantages of distance learning better and, on the other hand, benefit more from its advantages.

The solutions developed in the Quality in Distance Learning project aim to develop students' self-directed learning skills. The interactive solutions produced in the project encourage students to engage in dialogue with the learning material, making learning more active. The data collected from the learning environment can also be used to help students understand their own progress and performance level.

During the project, the level of student self-direction and the application of elements related to self-direction in the learning environment will be studied.
