IoT learning environment

Requirements specification for IoT learning environment in the food industry launched

Euroopan unionin osarahoittama 2023 Elinkeino-, liikenne- ja ympäristökeskus Kokkolan kaupunki

The first task of the project was to familiarize ourselves with the learning environments in the food industry, where the IoT learning environment is to be implemented. The food industry learning environments consist of three different environments where students train to become bakers, confectioners, or food or meat product manufacturers. Familiarization with the environments concretizes and highlights the challenges and opportunities they present, but also makes it easier to conceptualize the future work.

In addition to familiarizing ourselves with the learning environments, we have held several meetings and discussions in which we (the university center staff) have added our expertise to the subject area of the training itself. At the same time, we have brought the possibilities of the IoT world to the attention of Kpedun staff and teachers. IoT enables the continuous monitoring and tracking of many things, which brings new dimensions to the food industry, where factors such as temperature and conditions are of great importance. Currently, in many places, these work stages are still done manually.
