DustSense – Smart Dust Monitoring in Industrial Areas

International Visibility for Our Sensor-Based Particulate Matter Research

In our sensor-based environmental research, we use both instruments designed and built at the university and commercially available devices. When commercial instruments are used, our research and development efforts focus particularly on data processing and analysis.

In the DustSense project, commercially available dust sensors manufactured by the Swiss sensor technology company Decentlab have been used as reference instruments alongside our self-built pilot devices. Decentlab featured our research in its customer newsletter under the headline “Experimental Environmental & Infrastructure Monitoring in Finland.” The article presented sensor-based environmental measurements and comparative studies carried out in the Kokkola Industrial Park.

Through the newsletter, our project gained visibility within Decentlab’s international customer and partner network.
