Kokkola University Consortium Chydenius is developing wireless environmental noise measurement equipment. The goal is to develop digital equipment suitable for year-round use that is capable of continuous measurement. The equipment consists of "noise nodes" that can measure A-weighted average noise levels in the environment. Each device has three microphones.
The development of the measuring equipment involves several work phases, such as circuit board design and assembly, software design, device assembly, 3D printing, calibration, and adjustment. The accompanying video shows some of the work phases.
Once the noise measurement equipment is complete, it will be piloted in the vicinity of the Kokkola Industrial Park. A multi-point environmental noise measurement network will be built around the industrial area using the equipment.
