Our near future will be strongly shaped by environmental concerns and the pursuit of sustainable production. Achieving environmental goals requires concrete actions and the adoption of new technologies. The TAKOMO project promotes awareness and implementation of environmental monitoring based on sensor networks and IoT technologies. The project develops and implements real-time, continuous environmental monitoring solutions in the Kokkola Industrial Park. These measurements provide new insights into the area’s environmental conditions and the combined effects of emissions, while enabling the creation of predictive models and improved emission management. The project also strengthens public communication on environmental issues by providing citizens with up-to-date information about local environmental conditions. The infrastructure investments needed for the project are supported by the EAKR-funded TAKOMO investment project.
Build a comprehensive infrastructure for the industrial area, enabling diverse environmental monitoring and the utilization of collected data
Carry out continuous, real-time measurements from multiple points and visualize the results
Examine the microclimate of the industrial area
Combine industrial data, other environmental data, and regional weather data in innovative ways
Develop AI-based predictive models that enable proactive measures to reduce emissions
Create dashboards for both industrial operators and citizens to access environmental measurement results
Disseminate knowledge and experiences on the potential and applicability of digital monitoring solutions
The project is co-funded by the European Union.
