LIoT project exports IoT know-how to enterprises
One goal of the LIoT project is to export IoT know-how and information directly to companies via the students working in them.
In 2017 spring, in co-operation with the LIoT project, univerity's Software Project course was based on various IoT technologies.
The aim of the student project team was to study the reliability of the various types of IoT technologies for the reliable identification of entering and leaving characters, and to build a pilot implementation that could, if successful, be added to the LIoT project's demo environment.
In the project, a system for autonomous usercount rendering over the network (S.A.U.R.O.N) was implemented that calculates persons entering and leaving the premises with multiple technologies: part of the identification is handled using the raspberry pi small camera module and the identification and calculation algorithms that control it whereas other part of the detection is handled by ultrasound sensors communicating via XBEE devices over the ZigBee network to system backend services. All observations are stored in the database and displayed in the appropriate user interface.
