Activity sensor network ready for deployment

One of the project objectives is implement an activity sensor network for monitoring elderly people. The monitoring has to be conducted without violating privacy and applying this rule we choose to use PIR sensors (Passive Infrared Sensor) to detect movement.

The sensor node includes Zigbit module (2.4Ghz) and Panasonic PIR sensor. The application software is carefully designed to minimize the power consumption, we can estimate the battery life (Li-Ion AA 2200mAh) of an invidual node to be up to 4.4 years.

The network has been tested in lab conditions and now it is ready for first pilot installations. The sensor network will deployed to 1-2 apartments (around 40 square meters) in which each room + main door will be monitored.
