LUMA Centre Finland is a network established by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Its mission is to inspire and encourage children and young people to study and engage with mathematics, environmental studies, science, and technology through new initiatives in science and technology education. It also supports teachers in lifelong learning from early childhood education to universities across Finland, while strengthening research-based educational development.
The Central Ostrobothnia LUMA Centre is a local organisation coordinated by the Kokkola University Consortium Chydenius, facilitating collaboration between schools, higher education institutions, universities, and industry. Its aim is to promote the learning, study, and teaching of science, mathematics, computer science, and technology at all levels.
The centre advances expertise in STEM subjects in Finland in line with a joint strategy as well as long-term and annual action plans. LUMA Centre Finland has been assigned a national mission by the Ministry of Education and Culture for the period 2025–2028.
