Our new prototype plaftorm for IoT applications has arrived. We have to do some pleminary tests ( power consumption, RF) before the module is ready to real deployments. The platform is equipped with Atmel's chips - ATXMEGA256 microcontroller and new dual band radio AT86RF215. This gives plenty of different possibilities to build versatile IoT applications in different environments.
Here are some specs of the radio chip:
- Fully integrated radio transceiver covering 389.5-510 MHz, 779-1020 MHz, and 2400-2483.5 MHz
- Supported PHYs (IEEE 802.15.4 and proprietary modes)
- MR-FSK: 50…400 ksymbol/s with optional forward error correction and interleaving
- MR-OFDM: 50…2400 kbit/s
- MR-O-QPSK: 6.25…1000 kbit/s, 100…2000 kchip/s
- O-QPSK: 250…1000 kbit/s
- Simultaneous operation at sub-1 GHz and 2.4 GHz
- IEEE 802.15.4 MAC support
- Industry leading link budget
- Programmable TX output power up to +14 dBm
- Receiver sensitivity down to -123 dBm
Atmel ATXMEGA256:
- Atmel picoPower technology (True 1.6V operation, and down to 100nA RTC operation with full SRAM retention for fastest possible wake-up time)
- DMA controller
- Event System
- Dual 12-bit ADC
- 12-bit DAC
- AES/DES crypto engine
- Full-Speed USB device interface
- Multiple USARTS, SPI and two-wire interfaces
