In a machine and production technology learning environment, the equipment does not end there. When you open the door to the machine room, you are greeted by an impressive array of different machines and devices. So it is no wonder that, from the perspective of the IoT learning environment project, it is difficult to decide how and from which angle to approach the issue in order to provide the best possible support for both teachers and students.

Right from the start, there was a long list of different ideas for how IoT could be applied. And after a visit to the learning environment and discussions, it is slowly becoming clear how IoT could be utilized in teaching. During the spring, the scope of the topics has been narrowed down, but we are still considering where it would be most beneficial to apply it.

The knowledge and opportunities related to IoT have increased among teachers of mechanical and production engineering, even though the teachers already had a good understanding of the subject. At the same time, the university center's knowledge of the content of mechanical and production engineering education has improved, so finding common ground has developed as the journey has progressed.

The aim of the joint meetings and discussions is to compile requirements specifications for an IoT learning environment in the field of mechanical and production engineering, so that the technical implementation of the environment itself can be started.
