LIoT project and IBM Watson IoT platform applications

The Watson IoT platform is a comprehensive and versatile technology platform that can control the landscape of the Internet of Things (IoT) and enables you to make better business decisions, even in real time.
The University of Jyväskylä has been involved in IBM's Watson University program since 2015.

IBM Node-RED (the image gallery below) is a powerful tool for connecting various IoT concepts to each other in an interesting way. It is built on Node.js and enables agile IoT solutions where IoT devices, gateways and applications can be connected to Watson IoT platform to generate applications.

The project has implemented apps with Watson's IoT and Node-RED tools, such as an IoT app to monitor campus water consumption via IoT. The water meter consumption tracking is based on the Livion Flow system, which further transfers water meter data to the IBM Watson platform. A Number of user interfaces has been implemented into Watson platform (e.g. Figure above). The Raspberry Pi has been tested on the user interface hardware side with a fixed 7-inch display. (See photo gallery below.) Node-RED and Watson IoT platforms can be seen in action at Kokkola University Center Chydenius!
