DustSense – Smart Dust Monitoring in Industrial Areas

TAKOMO Smart Environmental Monitoring in Industrial Areas

IoT solutions attracted interest at the Kokkola KIP Environmental Day

The traditional KIP Environmental Day was once again held in Kokkola, bringing together operators from the industrial park, environmental authorities, and other key stakeholders to discuss current environmental issues. The event is organized by the KIP Environmental Working Group of the Kokkola Industrial Park Association.

This year, the Kokkola University Consortium participated as an exhibitor, presenting IoT-based environmental monitoring solutions and educational opportunities. The exhibition stand offered a comprehensive overview of both research-based and commercial measurement solutions.

At the university consortium’s stand, devices developed במסגרת the TAKOMO and DustSense projects were presented, including dust and noise measurement instruments developed by the university. In addition, commercial solutions were showcased, such as Decentlab’s particulate matter monitoring equipment and an ultrasonic device for measuring snow depth.

The exhibition stand attracted considerable interest among event participants. Discussions were held with various stakeholders, and the network of contacts expanded nicely. In particular, collaboration opportunities related to upcoming water monitoring activities emerged as a new and promising initiative.

Once again, the Kokkola KIP Environmental Day provided an important platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and the presentation of new solutions — and demonstrated that there is growing demand for smart environmental monitoring solutions in industrial environments.
