DustSense – Smart Dust Monitoring in Industrial Areas

Dust measurement network expanded to 17 monitoring points

A real-time dust measurement network has been built in the Kokkola Industrial Park as part of the DustSense project. The purpose of the network is to support particulate measurements in the industrial area, provide real-time information on air quality, and enable actions to control dust emissions.

The newest monitoring point was installed at Keliber’s lithium refinery site in Kokkola. The network now includes 27 particulate measuring devices across 17 monitoring points in the KIP area.

Measurement data from the network is available to the industrial operators participating in the project, allowing each actor to monitor the dust situation in the area in real time. The network consists of both commercial devices and dust measurement instruments developed by the university itself.
