Robocoast EDIH

The mission of Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) is to support companies and the public sector in adopting and making use of digital solutions.

The Kokkola University Consortium Chydenius is part of the Robocoast EDIH (European Digital Innovation Hubs, EDIH) consortium. European DIHs are part of the EU’s new Digital Europe programme. They operate as non-profit service centres that accelerate digitalisation, particularly for SMEs and the public sector (Robocoast national pages).

The Robocoast EDIH consortium consists of higher education institutions, university consortia, and Turku Science Park Ltd. located in the regions of Southwest Finland, Satakunta, Ostrobothnia, Central Ostrobothnia, Central Finland, South Savo, and Kymenlaakso. The consortium is coordinated by Prizztech Ltd. Its main goal is to enhance the competitiveness of Finland’s export-oriented manufacturing industry. From a technology perspective, the strengths of Robocoast EDIH include expertise in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, automation, and robotics.

The strength of the Kokkola University Consortium Chydenius within the consortium lies in its expertise in smart wireless systems and the provision of IoT-related RDI environments for Finland’s manufacturing export industry.

Robocoast EDIH operates close to the business sector by identifying challenges related to modernization and supporting the launch of related development activities. Support can include project partnerships, digitalisation services offered by higher education institutions, or information about funding opportunities. In addition, the consortium transfers digital expertise, students, RDI environments, and technology partners from universities to companies. A major strength is the ability to leverage the opportunities offered by a network of 15 higher education institutions to support companies
