Effective data communication is essential for the success of the TAKOMO project. Almost all of the digital environmental measurement data planned for the project will be transmitted using wireless LoRa (Long Range) radio technology. LoRaWan technology is a data communication solution created for the Internet of Things (IoT) that is suitable for transmitting small amounts of data. The TAKOMO project aims to install several LoRaWan base stations in the Kokkola Industrial Park (KIP) to enable data communication for the project. High locations with access to mains power are suitable for base stations. The project's first base station was installed at the Kokkola wastewater treatment plant on the edge of the industrial area. Measuring devices for real-time measurement of weather conditions, noise, and dust, among other things, will also be installed at the same location.
