A new LoRaWAN base station has been installed in the southern part of the Kokkola Industrial Park as part of the TAKOMO project. The TAKOMO project implements and develops real-time, continuous environmental monitoring solutions in a pilot area in the Kokkola Industrial Park. Environmental monitoring is carried out using small digital devices that transmit data via the LoRa (Long Range) radio network. The base station now installed is Kokkola University Consortium Chydenius' third base station installed in the vicinity of Kokkola Industrial Park. To ensure reliable data transfer across the large industrial area, suitable base station locations are still being mapped. The TAKOMO project includes a separate investment project that enables the purchase of base stations and other measuring equipment.
The aim is to install the base stations as high as possible. If the conditions at the installation site are suitable, the project's measuring equipment will be installed in connection with the base stations. A precipitation gauge was installed in connection with the base station that has now been installed. The precipitation gauge identifies the type of precipitation and measures the amount of precipitation.
